Archives Spotlight: Basil Johnston In-Person
We are pleased to present a regular series of talks which explore highlights of the collections in greater depth. These events focus on particular items, archives, or subject areas to explore the broader themes, events, and stories reflected in our holdings.
Basil Johnston
Learn about the life and accomplishments of Dr. Basil Johnston, a celebrated writer and teacher of Anishinaabemowin. In his lifetime, Johnston published 16 volumes, including the Anishinaubae Thesaurus, and would receive the Order of Ontario and the Aboriginal Achievement Award for Heritage and Spirituality. Dr. Johnston’s archive, preserved at the William Ready Division, is a rich testament to his work and legacy.
